MAYA | EXTRUDING ALONG A CURVE

Alright I’ve done this countless times before but it’s been a bit and I just ran into an issue that was breaking my brain, so I thought I’d post the solution here. I resorted to a tutorial on youtube to try and refresh my memory. First of all to do it, you simply make a cylinder(create menu>polygon primitives>cylinder) and then snap it to the end of your created CV curve(hold the v key when moving it - w key to move). Oh first it’s helpful to snap the pivot point to the end of the cylinder(hold d and then v simultaneously and then snap the pivot point to the centre/end of the cylinder). However the video missed/didn’t clarify something; make sure that when you increase the divisions to increase it on the extrude input in the channel box rather than on the cylinder input(for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to do this instead - I think it popped up automatically for me). Otherwise you will get undesired results(see below).
