BLENDER(2.93) | BLACK OBJECT WHEN MIRRORED/FLIPPED

Just ran across a problem in Blender after importing an OBJ model I exported from Maya. In it I had mirrored an object by scaling it’s group -1. In Maya this rendered fine. Usually if an object renders black in any render engine I’m using in Maya I just flip the normals and it fixes it. This wasn’t working though. So I tried deleting the history as well. No dice. Tried applying a new material. No dice. Tried recalculating and flipping the normals in Blender after importing the OBJ. No dice. Then what finally ended up working was freezing the transformations in Maya on the mirrored object, so it didn’t have a negative value. I then re-exported the OBJ and imported it in Blender and bingo, that worked.
